PEACE IS THE ONLY WAY
“Canada has come in fourth on an annual ranking of world peacefulness, trailing only Iceland, Denmark and New Zealand. … Iceland was deemed the world’s most peaceful country for the second straight year.”
This I heard this morning on the 8 a.m. CBC News report. The 2012 Global Peace Index was released today — the sixth produced by the Institute for Economics and Peace, an Australia-U.S. think-tank, with data from the Economist Intelligence Unit — saw Canada move up three spots from the 2011 list.
The report was looking at such items as crime, our participation in the U. N. Peace Keeping missions, and economic prosperity.
When I see pictures of young kids carrying automatic rifles, when I hear news of economic collapse, when I hear about atrocities in other parts of the world, I silently take a moment, be still and say a prayer I learned many years ago:
May Peace Prevail on Earth, May Peace Be in our Hearts and Countries.
I stand in peace in my thoughts, words and actions – for myself and others. Peace is not THE way – It’s the ONLY WAY.
